Standard Job Description: Senior Protection Assistant
Organizational Setting and Work Relationships:
The Senior Protection Assistant provides quality, timely, and effective protection support to persons of concern (PoC) in line with international standards. They contribute to designing a comprehensive protection strategy, liaise with local authorities and partners, and ensure PoC participation in decision-making processes.

Duties:

  • Apply International and National Law and relevant policies.
  • Provide counseling and support to PoC, conduct eligibility interviews, and contribute to child protection and education plans.
  • Monitor protection activities, participate in individual protection case management, and assist in identifying durable solutions.
  • Draft reports, maintain databases, and contribute to capacity-building initiatives.
  • Enforce integrity in protection service delivery and support risk management efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Professional Work Experience:

  • G5: 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1 year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher. Field(s) of Education: Not applicable. Certificates and/or Licenses: International Law; Political Science.

Language Requirements:
Knowledge of English and UN working language of the duty station if not English.

Desired Background for Candidates:

  • Degree in International Law/Refugee Law/Human Rights.
  • Experience in refugee protection, case management, and legal analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Living and Working Conditions:
